Summary

Acktar™ offers MaxiBlack™, a diffusive, abrasion-resistant, polyimide film for straylight suppression. MaxiBlack is currently the blackest polymer that Acktar offers. It has the lowest reflectance across the spectrum from the UV to SWIR. MaxiBlack is manufactured by using roll to roll thin film technology.

The key characteristics of the MaxiBlack coating include:

  • High Adhesion
  • Light Weight
  • Space Qualified
  • Low Reflection
  • REACH ROHS Compliant
  • Thickness 3-5µm
  • Low Outgassing: CVCM < 0.001
  • Temperature stability

Acktar produces a range of high-emissivity, ultra-black coatings for the suppression of stray light throughout the optical spectrum (UV-VIS-IR). Coated foils and thin films enable customers to apply the coating to surfaces without the need to ship the parts to Acktar.

General features of Acktar's black thin films and foils include:

  • Clean room compatible (ISO 5)
  • Cleanable
  • Suitable for flat, concave or convex surfaces
  • Applicable to metals, glass, ceramics, plastics
  • Zero fluorescence

Typical application of Acktar's black thin films and foils include:

  • Optical system housings
  • Apertures and baffles
  • Beam dumps
  • Laser safety screens
  • Mobile phone camera parts
  • Automotive cameras and HUDs
  • Calibration standards
  • Analytical lab arrays
