The Airbus RT Coupler is a space-qualified military standard (MIL-STD) 1553B remote terminal subsystem designed for space applications. It performs the coupling between a single MIL-STD - 1553B bus interface and a user interface. It consists of one MIL-STD-1553B single transceiver and one MIL-STD-1553B RT application-specific integrated circuit (AISC) able to manage the dialogue in remote terminal mode. It is compatible with a long stub or short stub coupling and operates with a standard centre tapped transformer. Some of its key functions include words validity check, the transmission of only valid messages to the application, and management of the user interface. The product weighs 25 grams and has a maximum power consumption rate of 1.2 Watts.
