Summary

The NanoAvionics EPS Electrical Power System is a Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) power conditioning and distribution unit.

The EPS is equipped with four MPPT converters with eight solar panel input channels. Each MPPT converter is integrated with Maximum Power Point Tracking capability designed for high, constant, and efficient energy harvest. It is compatible with different size and configuration of solar panels without any additional hardware or software configurations.

Integrated hardware and software configurable overcurrent protection features ensure reliable power distribution.

NanoAvionics EPS features Lithium-Ion batteries with integrated Battery Management System (BMS) which help to prolong mission lifetime and ensure appropriate operating conditions.

On-board monitoring and logging features monitor the EPS operations in all input and output circuits. In the event of an unexpected malfunction occurrence, the EPS watchdog system ensures that the satellite and EPS are rebooted and brought back to working condition.

The EPS telemetry data and configurations are stored in reliable, radiation tolerant F-RAM memory. An industry approved, decentralized communication interface (CAN) with CSP protocol allows plug-and-play EPS integration to the main network.

The system has integrated International Space Station (ISS) compatible safety inhibits (Kill Switches) and batteries. Hence, the satellites with this EPS subsystem are allowed to be launched from ISS. The integrated Always-ON ultra-low-power Real Time Clock allows precise and continuous time readings.
