Summary

The Rafael Ltd Shape Propulsion System Shape Memory Alloy Valve - SMAV is a valve operated by SMA actuator based on smart materials. The fluid media compatibility includes Xe, Kr, Ar, GN2, GHe, De-Ionized Water and IPA.

The SMAV features a single-core cartridge heater which can be tested pre-flight without altering the functionality of the valve and ensuring reliability.

The valve being based on smart materials is a hermetic device as its inlet is sealed using a nipple sheard by the SMA actuator.

This inert solution is designed to be internal and external leakage-proof. The lifetime for storage is 7 years, for pre-Activation (pressurized) is 4 years and for flight (post-activation) is 15 years. The inlet and outlet interface are MS 33656G-4 or 0.25'' tubes
