Summary

The CFRP fasteners systems include bolts, screws, nuts, anchornuts and threaded inserts. The carbon fibres are continuous along the thread flanges resulting in strength equivalent to stainless steel. The coefficient of thermal expansion is zero. With 55-60% fibre volume content and a density of 1.5g/cm³, mass is less than any other threaded solution. The system has been space qualified under ESA contract.
