NASA Rapid III SSTL-100

Summary

The SSTL-100 platform offers cost-effective payload capability, suitable for a wide range of LEO missions. Its volume-efficient packaging and dimensions offer the potential for multiple buses to be simultaneously launched or to capitalize on rideshare opportunities.

The SSTL-100 platform’s versatility enables it to be used for a single-bus mission, or for a cost-effective constellation mission, such as the highly successful Disaster Monitoring Constellation (DMC) which has achieved more than 10 years in-orbit heritage.

The SSTL-100 design lifetime is 5 years, and it is capable of operating beyond this; SSTL-100 buses ALSAT-1 (launched November 2002), UK-DMC-1 (launched September 2003) and NigeriaSat-1 (launched December 2003) are all still operational in orbit.
