Summary

Space BD’s In-Orbit Demonstration (IOD) service on the International Space Station (ISS) “Kibo” module enables companies to test new technologies.

The service utilizes the ISS Kibo’s IVA-replaceable Small Exposed Experiment Platform (i-SEEP) - often described as the easiest way to utilize the space environment for a wide variety of projects.

The i-SEEP offers 3 main benefits:

Cost- reduction - the i-SEEP can directly use the ISS' infrastructure resources. Users are not required to develop the satellite bus system, decreasing the development and launch costs, which are related to the payload mass.

Reliable access - the payload is installed on the ISS' re-supply vehicle and deployed by astronauts The ISS’s established and proven infrastructure provides stable contact between the ground station and the payload, and installation and recovery opportunities are regularly, typically every 6 months.

Minimized process - the established route for accessing the space environment saves time in the preparation of mission documentation plans, so often a large hidden cost in development. Existing protocols and frequency applications enable an expedited process.
