Summary

Solstar® develops proprietary technologies and payload & space communicator products, providing commercial internet/communications services to astronauts and machines in space. Our services also enable earth-based customers 24/7 direct access to experiments, cubesats, machines, and colleagues located in space, via their smart phones, or any other internet connected device. Pioneering the testing and demonstration of using existing commercial communications satellite networks in LEO (Low Earth Orbit) and GEO (Geostationary Earth Orbit). We provide space-to-space communications on spacecraft and bi-directional two-way data services for payloaders. NASA awarded Solstar a Space Act Agreement (SAA) in 2013 to demonstrate and mature this technology. Through the SAA, we have successfully demonstrated commercial two-way payload data service technology on three suborbital flights through the Flight Opportunities Program (FOP). Most recently we flew our Schmitt Space Communicator SC-1x prototype payload twice on Blue Origin’s New Shephard in 2018. We also demonstrated our WiFi hot spot service inside the crew capsule that can be used by WiFi-enabled payloads and payload specialists. Solstar’s data communications technologies are enabling and catalyzing further commercial activity in orbit through two-way commercial communications for payloaders and payload specialists; increasing, enabling, and revolutionizing the way space research is conducted in orbit, from the ground; Enhancing the ability for researchers to conduct and interact with experiments in-flight. Reducing risk and increasing the success of space research for a broad range of science categories, including crewed research.
