Key highlights
The Acktar White™ is designed for space applications. It is a space-qualified film that delivers a range of emissivity and solar absorptivity values for passive thermal management in space applications.
These coatings are often used in multi-layer insulation blankets, providing a wide range of features and advantages. To facilitate air passage during launch, the film may be perforated. The perforation may be done before/after the coating process, upon request by the customer.
It has a minimum of 12 months of standard shelf life after the date of shipment, provided that the material is stored in its original unopened container under storage conditions.
Applications
Balanced thermal control surfaces, MLI/SLI outer layers, moderate radiator applications
Key features
This unique product offers low solar absorptance and high emissivity in a wide temperature range. This highly diffusive matte coating is completely inorganic and applied on a polyimide or aluminum foil substrate, ensuring UHV-vacuum compatibility.
Flight heritage
This product has been used in the following key missions:
BepiColombo - a 2-satellite mission to Mercury, to study the planet's geology, exosphere, magnetosphere and more.
