Key highlights

Acktar's Nano Black™ Coatings offer high IR reflectance, with low UV and VIS reflectance, for enhanced passive thermal management.

They are used in wafer-level optics, quantum atomic clocks, along with a variety of space applications.

Nano Black™ coatings are extremely thin, with typical thcknesses of less than 1.5µm, and are suitable for VIS-FIR operational wavelengths.

The low infrared emissivity is combined with low outgassing and no particulation, along with a wide operating temperature range of -70°C to +200°C.

Nano Black™ coatings are inorganic and suitable for use on 2D or 3D parts made of glass, metals, ceramics, or polymers.

Mission highlights

This product has been used in the following key missions:

  • Chandrayyan-2 - ISRO’s 2nd lunar exploration mission, involving an orbiter, lander, and rover. The mission involved mapping and studying the lunar surface as well as detecting water ice.
  • CANX-2 (Canadian Advanced Nanospace eXperiment) - an Earth atmospheric observation mission designed to both perform measurements and explore the performance of technologies in space.
