Summary

The Exobotics XO-VAC is a low-cost, desktop thermal vacuum chamber for CubeSats and small payload testings. XO-VAC simulates the extreme environmental conditions of space by exposing payloads to high vacuum across a wide temperature range.

The system is designed to be more affordable than general rental costs of TVAC facilities or purchasing larger, widely available TVACs.

The base model includes 16 electrical power/signal connections as standard, along with 8 temperature sensors for the payload. XO-VAC fits on or next to a desk and has a solid state primary heat exchange system, so leaks or payload contamination are avoided. Exobotics also offers maintenance, service and support.

Applications

Applications include, but are not limited to:

  • Component verification
  • Failure mode analysis
  • Temperature drift compensation
  • Thermal management system performance analysis
  • Subsystem and platform level testing
  • RT vacuum applications
  • Outgassing / contamination assessment
  • Load balancing of processing units
  • Quality control of manufactured products
  • Nanosatellite bake-out, qualification, and acceptance testing
  • Thermal Vacuum Cycling of payloads and satellites

Key features

  • Heat transfer: by radiation via shroud, and or conduction via payload tray
  • ΔT across payload tray: < 1 C at equilibrium
  • Time to each 1E-5 mbar: < 15 min
  • Time to vent: < 10 min, automated
  • Feedthroughs: signal and power included
  • Power: via conventional mains plug, 400W typical
  • Control: via USB, software included for Windows operating systems
