Key highlights

The MDA Space FLARE (Full-wave Laser RangEfinder) is a long-range, Time of Flight (TOF)-based, laser rangefinder, designed for CubeSat applications.

At a rate of 1, 5 or 10Hz, FLARE measures the range to a target within a 3mrad Field of View (FOV) of the front face of the receiver. FLARE is split into two components: receiver and controller. It combines a pulsed laser, high-quality free-space optics, a high-speed detector, and matching electronics.

Together with the TOF measurement system, FLARE can measure range to targets several kilometers away.
