Key highlights

The MDA Space LEIA is a LiDAR designed for extra-terrestrial imaging applications in space. It uses a pulsed laser beam to scan and map the target.

LEIA has the capability to generate a 3D point cloud, even under changing light conditions. The adaptive scan pattern allows LEIA to compensate for the motion of the host platform and build an accurate picture of the area being imaged, whether that is an ailing spacecraft or the surface of the Moon.

It is available in two variants, one designed to be ECSS compliant, while another is a modified version called LEIA Hybrid. LEIA Hybrid is designed to meet the needs of the commercial space market, providing a lower cost, and reduced lead time alternative for short-duration missions.
