Key highlights

Bare Electrodynamic Tether Mission Analysis Software (BETsMA v2.0) is a simulation tool designed to analyse space missions utilizing electrodynamic tethers (EDTs). The service offers a comprehensive analysis of EDT missions. Our capabilities include an optimal design of EDT systems for a given mission providing system envelope and performance (mass, volume, reboost /deorbit times, harvested power…). We can also perform broad parametric analysis by varying mission objectives, orbital parameters or EDT dimensions and a detail mission analysis of a given scenario with the complete output file of the simulation with the dynamics of the EDT, thermal and electrical variables, orbital parameters, survivability probability etc.

The BETsMA v2.0 software benefits from the strong EDT heritage of PERSEI Space, specifically through its active involvement in the E.T.PACK-F and E.T.COMPACT projects. This robust background ensures that the software's analysis capabilities are solidly grounded in real-world hardware experience. In particular, a 12U autonomous EDT deorbit device has been developed through E.T.PACK-F with the help of BETsMA v2.0. which will be demonstrated in-orbit in a mission led by PERSEI Space.

Key features

  • Versatile Mission Simulation: Simulates multiple electrodynamic tether (EDT) scenarios, including deorbiting, reboost, station-keeping, and power harvesting.
  • Extensive EDT Compatibility: Supports analysis for multiple tether types, including Bare Electrodynamic Tethers (BET), Low-Work-Function Tethers (LWT), and Bare-Photovoltaic-Tethers (BPT), both in Passive and Active mode.
  • Advanced Dynamic Modelling: Features tools for optimal tether design and comprehensive flight simulators equipped with various dynamic models (Vertical, Spinning, N-Particles, and N-Bar).
  • Comprehensive Analytical Outputs: Generates detailed data files that track the dynamic evolution of the EDT, including orbital parameters, deorbit time, electrical and thermal variables, and survival probability.
  • Flexible Service Options: Offers broad parametric analyses, detailed mission simulations, and integral support that can include customized reports and assistance with scientific publications.
