Summary

The Rafael Ltd Propulsion System Fill and Drain valve FDV and Fill and Vent valve – FVV are service valves with 15 years lifetime and flight heritage.

The FDV is used for loading and draining of propellants and FVV is used for pressurizing and venting of Nitrogen. The valves are compatible with Hydrazine, IPa, distilled water, GN2 and GHe.

After launch, the valves do not have any active function. The FDV and FVV are similar by design except for interface thread sizes providing a non-interchangeable propellant and pressure usage connections.

The GSE part executes the loading, draining and pressurizing Ground Support Equipment (GSE) opening the desired valve and disconnecting prior to launch.

Two seals in series are provided for redundancy. The primary metal-to-metal seal is secured by a threaded retainer after loading the propellant/pressurant. The secondary sealing is ensured by a hydrazine resistant O-ring gasket, located within the external cap. At the 1/4'' diameter valve outlet, a Ti welded interface connection is provided.
