Key highlights
The Safran Spacecraft Propulsion PPS®1350-S is a stationary plasma thruster designed to handle orbit-topping, station-keeping, and deorbiting duties for satellites and other spacecraft.
It has a significant thrust-to-electrical power ratio, allowing one to cut down on operation time or the number of thrusters required.
The PPS®1350-S generates a thrust of 90 mN. When compared to platforms using conventional chemical propulsion, its high specific impulse of 1660 allows for substantial weight reductions. It utilizes Xenon as a fuel and weighs approximately 4.8 kg.
Key features
- Stable operation over a wide power range: 500 to 2,500 W
- Low startup power
- Proven performance at extreme temperatures, from -45°C to +160°C
- Reduced beam divergence (40°)
- The PPS®1350 is delivered with its xenon flow control system
Flight heritage
The Safran Electronics & Defense PPS®1350-S is flight proven with multiple space missions.
