Summary

iSIM-170 is the highest resolution optical payload of the iSIM family. It is a cost-effective instrument specifically designed for microsatellites, with flight heritage and proven sub-meter resolution.

The payload includes the optical front-end as well as state-of-the-art CMOS matrix detectors and an electronics subsystem for payload management and control.

With a total mass of 15kg, iSIM-170 can achieve sub-meter resolution from an altitude of 500 km. It covers the Visible & Near InfraRed (VNIR) spectral range, offering both panchromatic and multispectral capabilities according to the user's needs.

The optomechanics is configurable to provide single or dual channel, for more spectral bands and more swath.

The Super Resolution algorithm developed by SATLANTIS can improve the spatial resolution by a factor of at least 2.5 beyond the instrument's native resolution. Furthermore, a newly developed Short-Wave Infrared (SWIR) option is also available for this payload, with an extended spectral range up to 1700nm. iSIM-170 payloads are customizable both in terms of spectral range and number of channels, allowing imaging in VNIR and SWIR simultaneously in dual channel configuration, or any of the two (VNIR / SWIR) in a more compact single channel configuration.

An overview of the mission results from the iSIM-170 In-Orbit Demonstration (IOD) mission on the International Space Station (ISS) can be downloaded here.
