Summary
The Texas Instruments UC1825B-SP Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) control device is optimized for high-frequency, switched mode power supply applications.
In particular, the controller has been designed to minimize propagation delays through logic circuitry and the use of comparators, while maximizing both the slew rate of the error amplifier and the operating bandwidth.
The controller is designed to be used in either voltage mode systems or current-mode, with the additional capability for input voltage feed-forward.
It includes protective circuitry such as a soft start pin (that can double as a maximum duty-cycle clamp), a TTL-compatible shutdown port, and a current limit comparator with a 1V threshold.
The component also features totem pole outputs that are designed to source and sink high peak currents from capacitive loads, such as the gate of a power MOSFET. In addition, the on-state is designed as high level.
The UC1825B-SP's logic is fully latched in order to prohibit multiple pulses at an output and to provide jitter-free operation.
An undervoltage lockout section, that includes 800 mV of hysteresis, is designed to ensure low startup current requirements. Outputs are high impedance during undervoltage lockout.
