Key highlights

PowerBank-50 is a modular Battery module for cubesats and microsats. The battery pack consists of 4 high energy density 18650 lithium ion cells, delivering over 50Wh in either a 2S2P or 4S1P configuration. Multiple packs of the same configuration stack together to scale energy storage and average power output. An integrated battery management system optimises charge and discharge to maximise cell life while maintaining uninterrupted power delivery, and an intelligent monitor tracks state of charge and state of health, actively balances the cells, and protects against over-voltage, over-current, short-circuit and out-of-range temperature conditions. Polyimide heaters maintain the cells above  5°C. Everything is packaged in a precision-machined 6061-T6 aluminium chassis that is PC104-compliant and occupies just 0.26 U at 390 g, with the enclosure doubling as the structural and thermal interface to the satellite.


An ultra-low-power MCU reports comprehensive real-time telemetry, including pack and cell voltages, currents, temperatures, capacity, cycle count and heater state, over a half-duplex RS-485 link, with user configurable charge-current and heater limits. Every pack ships with a plug-and-play Battery Pack Status Viewer for bench testing, TVAC integration and FlatSat work, operated via any USB-to-RS485 adapter. The PowerBank-50 has passed UN 38.3 (cleared for air freight), TVAC, random vibration and shock qualification, is rated for up to five years in LEO.

Successfully flown on Skyroot Aerospace’s Vikram-1 test flight, Aagaman, powering Cosmoserve Space’s Mission Embrace payload.
