Key highlights
DeltaOrbit is a spin-off from the Chair of Space Propulsion at the Technical University of Munich (TUM). The company focuses on developing a space transporter with advanced propulsion capabilities.
The unique feature of this transporter is its ability to reach any point in low Earth orbit within a relatively short period, typically a few days. This enables customers to benefit from cost advantages associated with large rockets while maintaining orbital positioning flexibility that surpasses the capabilities of even expensive microlaunchers.
The company's expertise is rooted in decades of university research into rocket engines and the methane/oxygen (Methalox) fuel combination. Key areas of knowledge include ignition, handling, and storage of cryogenic fuels, as well as construction and operation of engine test stands, and development of rocket engines.
Building on this expertise, DeltaOrbit is currently developing a Methalox propulsion system for space applications. This system serves as the foundation for the company's future space transporter but also has potential applications in other areas of in-space propulsion.
