PICOSATS envisages a new generation of telecommunication systems for space applications dedicated to CubeSat pico-satellites.

The key technologies at the core of this system are software defined radios (SDRs) and highly directive and configurable antennas, operating at high frequencies (e.g. in the Ka-band), and providing very high data rates.

To pursue this opportunity, PICOSATS was founded in 2014 as a spin-off of the University of Trieste. The company’s core technology was based on the AtmoCube program, an educational and research activity aimed at the realization of the first small satellite in Trieste.

PICOSATS has since progressed to build on this initial experience to develop real and innovative products for space.
