Key highlights

The Arquimea HDRA REACT 15KN v2 is a Hold-Down & Release Actuators with 15KN release load for solar arrays, antennas, staging separation and thrusters. The REACT is a low-shock actuator used to firmly hold the payload during transportation and launch, and to release it later by electrical activation.

The HDRA REACT features a redundant trigger with the option of two different motorization based on Shape Memory Alloys (TiNi and SMARQ). The system offers a wide actuation temperature and provides a manual reset capability to the user.

The REACT actuators are based on structural and trigger mechanisms. The high external loads are held by the structural assembly ensuring safety and reliability. The trigger is used to convert the system into an unstable structure which is self-motorized to release the main bolt effectively.

The actuator features a customizable interface and can be activated electrically. The Shape Memory Allow is induced by the heat transformed effectively from the energy of the electrical activation which motorizes the system with a redundant trigger.

Applications

Typical applications of REACT include solar arrays, antennas, booms and masts, reflectors, cover doors, scientific instruments, shutter mechanisms, large structures, launch locks for gimbals, thrusters, stage separation, caging mechanisms, etc.

Key features

  • Low shock
  • Manually field resettable by the end user. No refurbishment required

Testing & qualification

Quality Levels

EM acceptance tests include:

  • Physical Measurements (envelop dimensions, mass)
  • Electrical Measurements (input resistance, grounding, insulation, dielectric)
  • Actuation Test (applied preload, voltage consumption and supplied current)
  • Actuation Test with Redundant Initiator (applied preload, voltage consumption and supplied current)

FM acceptance tests include EM acceptance tests plus:

  • Vibration (acceptance levels)
  • Thermal Vacuum Activation (actuation time, applied preload, voltage consumption and supplied current)

Arquimea's Quality Management System meets the requirements of UNE-EN 9100:2018 Aerospace Series and has been audited and certified by the Spanish Association for Standardization and Certification, AENOR.
