Key highlights
The Stellar Exploration Battery Assembly is a space-grade lithium-ion battery pack and battery management system (BMS) designed for COTS integration with standard 28V small satellite buses. The battery is configured into a custom number of parallel 8S1P “modules”, providing scalable capacity and robust redundancy. Each module includes integrated charging, cell monitoring, and protection circuitry, creating a truly “plug-and-play” power solution.
The 8S1P module serves as the core building block of the Battery Assembly. Each module operates with independent charging and management electronics, relying on a central master controller solely for telemetry reporting to the customer’s OBC. This fully redundant modular architecture significantly enhances system reliability by eliminating single points of failure. For example, in an 8S24P system, the failure of a single module results in only a 4.2% reduction in total capacity, with no further impact on operation. The number of modules is determined during the quoting process, based on customer capacity requirements and available volume constraints.
