Key highlights

Oxford Space Systems (OSS) is a growth stage space technology company, founded in 2013, specialising in the development and manufacture of deployable antennas and structures for the space segment. OSS offers a diverse portfolio of deployable antenna products for applications including Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), VDES/AIS, Internet of Things (IoT), telecommunications, and data relay across the RF spectrum from VHF to Ka-band.

Driven by increasing customer demand for our innovative flight hardware, OSS has now grown to employ more than 100 staff. Our product range spans compact CubeSat-compatible solutions – including helical and Yagi designed to stow within 1U and sub-1U volumes – to larger deployable reflectors in Offset and Cassegrain configurations designed for microsatellite-class platforms.

Specialisation in Deployable Antennas and Structures

With over a decade of experience in developing and delivering space deployable structures, OSS is redefining the global market for stowage-efficient and high-RF performance deployable antennas. Our multidisciplinary expertise across RF, structural, mechanisms, thermal, and materials engineering enables us to deliver highly optimised deployable products tailored to mission-specific requirements. OSS solutions are ideally suited to customers seeking compact, high-performance antennas with minimal deployment complexity.

Modular Design

OSS designs, manufactures, and tests antennas from material development to complete antenna sysems. OSS has developed deep expertise in metal mesh reflector surfaces and high-strain composite materials: OSS has paid particular attention to industrialising these processes by bringing knitting and composite processes in house capability, giving us good quality control and enabling continuous product improvement. Technology building blocks and experience augmented by measured performance  give us the ability to rapidly adapt and scale products to diverse missions and applications.

Flight Heritage

To date, OSS has successfully launched 23 flight units of deployable products into orbit. In 2024 alone, OSS delivered 25 flight units, including a 4m-long helical antenna and S-band Isoflux helical antennas. This established and growing flight heritage reinforces OSS’s position as a leading European provider of space deployable antenna technologies.

OSS Facilities

Oxford Space Systems has two dedicated facilities for development and manufacturing of deployable antennas. Our headquarters is on the Harwell Campus as part of the largest cluster of UK space companies near Oxford. This facility is specifically designed to enable OSS to undertake volume production of our range of antennas. In addition to the largest cleanroom on the campus (300m2), the facility has a large industrial area equipped with thermal ovens, small thermal vacuum chamber (TVAC) and 3D printers for the assembly and testing of lower TRL breadboards.

In 2023, OSS commissioned a new facility in Abingdon near Harwell. The Abingdon facility provides the additional industrial space and equipment needed for large scale antenna production including in-house manufacturing of composite structures in response to growing orders especially for flight missions.

OSS is ISO 9001:2015 certified.
